How we verify

Our sources, how we tell a completed usage reset from an announcement, how releases and blog posts are checked, and how we correct mistakes.

We publish only what an original source supports. This page explains which sources we use, how we classify reset news, and how we fix mistakes.

Sources, in order of trust

1. Official releases on GitHub: openai/codex and anthropics/claude-code. Release entries come only from stable, published releases; drafts and pre-releases are skipped.

2. Official product news and changelogs from OpenAI and Anthropic.

3. Posts on X from the accounts we follow for each topic, such as @thsottiaux, @OpenAIDevs and @OpenAI for Codex, and @claudeai, @ClaudeDevs and @AnthropicAI for Claude. Replies and quoted threads count when the original post is available.

4. Other reset trackers are leads only. We use them to discover a missing post, then verify the claim against the original. Several trackers repeating the same claim do not count as independent confirmation.

Completed reset or announcement?

Every reset entry is labelled: Completed, Reset report, Announced, Banked reset or Update. Announcements, planned resets, redeemable (banked) credits, reminders and allowance changes are logged separately.

The last-reset counter moves only when an original post reports a reset as completed, or when a completion is confirmed. An announcement alone never moves it.

A post's publication time is not proof of when a reset ran. When the execution time is unknown we keep it empty or show the date only. We never predict future resets from past patterns.

News, releases and blog posts

News cards are our one-line summaries, never presented as quotes, and always link to the original post. Full posts from X load only when you choose to load them.

Each version page shows the official release notes copied from GitHub (formatting simplified, only GitHub links kept); lists show a shortened summary. Every entry links to the original GitHub release.

Blog posts list every source at the end. Quotes are short, verbatim and linked to the original.

Source collection runs on a schedule with automated tools, and new entries are checked against their original source before publication. When a source cannot be reached, we keep the previous verified data instead of guessing.

Corrections

When a later source corrects an earlier one, the newer interpretation replaces the old one and the entry shows a correction note. Editor corrections take precedence over our saved copy.
