Meta Muse Code: what it is, plans and pricing
Meta's Muse Code coding agent explained: the four plans from $5 to $200 a month, usage multiples, Contributor mode, pay-as-you-go and how to install it.
Quick answer: Muse Code is Meta's coding agent for the terminal and CI, built on its Muse models. You can pay per token with a Meta Model API key, or subscribe at a flat monthly rate: Everyday Usage $5, High Usage $15, Power Usage $50 or Maximum Usage $200. Meta's newest and strongest model, Muse Wonder Full, is only available in Muse Code on the $50 and $200 plans.
Key facts
- Everyday Usage, $5/month: 10–50 prompts every 5 hours, voice mode, web search.
- High Usage, $15/month: 5x Everyday.
- Power Usage, $50/month: 20x Everyday, plus the most powerful Muse models, including Muse Wonder Full.
- Maximum Usage, $200/month: 80x Everyday.
- Subscriptions default to Contributor mode: more usage in exchange for letting Meta train on your content. You can switch it off.
- Install: curl -fsSL https://dev.meta.ai/install.sh | sh (macOS and Linux) or irm https://dev.meta.ai/install.ps1 | iex (Windows).
What Muse Code is
Meta's docs describe Muse Code as a coding agent for the terminal and CI. In a project, it plans, edits and runs commands, with approvals and an OS sandbox on from the first run. It installs a muse binary. Running muse opens an interactive session, and muse exec runs a single prompt for scripts and CI. Meta's product page highlights multi-agent work by default, with workers running in parallel and reviewers in the background. The docs list muse-spark-1.2 as the default model, and say Muse Code runs on macOS, Linux and Windows. On Windows, voice input and session messaging aren't available.
The four plans
All prices are per month, from Meta's product page. Usage multiples are relative to Everyday Usage, per the subscriptions docs.
- Everyday Usage ($5): the Muse model family, 10–50 prompts every 5 hours including image and video uploads, voice mode and web search.
- High Usage ($15): everything in Everyday, 5x the usage and more multimodal inputs.
- Power Usage ($50): everything in High, the most powerful Muse models, 20x the usage, early access to new features and higher file uploads.
- Maximum Usage ($200): everything in Power, with 80x the usage.
If you hit your limit, you can upgrade or wait for it to refresh. On Maximum Usage, waiting is the only option. Upgrades take effect immediately with prorated billing. Downgrades start at the next billing cycle. A cancelled plan stays active until the end of the cycle, and Meta says there are no refunds unless the law requires one.
Contributor mode
In Contributor mode, you get more usage from your plan in exchange for letting Meta use your content to train future Meta models.
Contributor mode is on by default and can be switched off anytime in Muse Code's settings. After that, Meta says your future content isn't used for training. Meta's pay-as-you-go price list shows the same split. muse-spark-1.3-contributor costs $0.10 input and $0.20 output per million tokens, while muse-spark-1.3, which isn't used to improve Meta's products, costs $1.25 and $4.25.
Subscription vs pay-as-you-go
- A subscription works only in the Muse Code CLI while you're signed in with your Meta Model API account. It covers the API key that's connected automatically during onboarding.
- Any other API keys you create are billed pay-as-you-go at per-token rates.
- Muse Wonder (muse-wonder-1.0) is also on the API at $4 input / $20 output per million tokens. Muse Wonder Full (muse-wonder-full-1.0) is subscription-only, per Meta's Muse Wonder page.
- You need a Meta Account, a Meta Model API account, and to be 18 or older (or the age of majority where you live). Benefits may vary by region.
