ML4 pushes the frontier of open-weight performance.
What Mistral says it's for
Mistral's announcement pitches Large 4 at coding, agentic workflows, multimodal understanding and enterprise work in cybersecurity, finance and law. It says the model was trained from scratch on 3,800 NVIDIA Grace Blackwell GPUs in Mistral's own European datacenters, that the preview runs on the same infrastructure, and that the training data spans more than 160 languages. In Mistral's own results, it scores 61.7% on DeepSWE v1.1 and 28.3% on Terminal-Bench 4. Those are vendor figures.
Preview status and open weights
- Mistral's model docs list the status as Public Preview, and the post says the reinforcement learning run behind the preview is still in progress.
- Mistral says it will release the weights by the end of October 2026. As of 13 October the docs still show the Hugging Face weights as "Coming soon".
- Until then, Mistral says it's red-teaming the model with cybersecurity leaders, vetted partners and state authorities, who get the same model with reduced moderation and expanded cyber capabilities.
- Mistral says Large 4 will be the base for a new generation of specialized Mistral models.
Pricing and features
- List price: $1.36 per million input tokens, $0.14 cached input and $4.18 output. The docs also show a sale price of half that ($0.68 / $0.07 / $2.09) without an end date.
- Mistral's Batch API runs requests at a 50% discount, and the model page lists batching as supported.
- Listed features include function calling, structured outputs, document Q&A, prefix, agents and conversations, and connectors.
- Try it through Mistral Studio, where the preview API is available.
