GPT-6 Astra Pro in ChatGPT gets faster replies and parallel agents
OpenAI says the upgrade brings faster responses and better use of plugins and tools, and lets several agents work on different parts of a task in parallel, with progress you can follow. It is available to Pro users in the Chat tab.
On 16 October 2026 OpenAI announced an upgrade to GPT-6 Astra Pro in ChatGPT. According to the company's post on X, the model now replies faster and makes better use of plugins and tools.
The update also adds parallel agents. A single task can be split so that several agents work on different parts of it at the same time. While they run, users can follow the progress of each agent, and once a part is finished they can open it and check what the agent produced. OpenAI says the feature is available now to ChatGPT Pro users in the Chat tab. The post does not mention other plans or a date for wider access.
The feature matches what OpenAI describes in its developer documentation for GPT-6 Astra. The API guide says the model is trained to divide work and hand pieces of it to subagents that run in parallel, and it advises developers to use prompting to control how much the model delegates in their own multi-agent setups. Multi-agent orchestration is listed among the API capabilities the model supports.
