Anthropic expands its GSA deal with a 40% government discount on Claude
Under a new agreement with the US General Services Administration, government customers get 40% off Claude Enterprise, Claude for Government and the Claude API, now including state, local, tribal and territorial governments. Anthropic estimates the savings at $1 billion.
On 27 October 2026 Anthropic announced an expanded agreement with the US General Services Administration (GSA). Government partners get a 40% discount on Claude Enterprise, Claude for Government and the Claude API. For the first time the discount covers every product surface: purchases made directly from Anthropic now, and purchases through cloud providers in the coming months. It also extends to state, local, tribal and territorial governments.
Anthropic estimates that the discounts will save the government $1 billion. Agencies have no minimum spend commitment and pay for the usage they consume. They can buy Claude at the OneGov discount through GSA's Multiple Award Schedule today, and Anthropic is also starting a dedicated program to help agencies implement Claude, planned for the coming weeks.
According to Anthropic, about 500 US federal, state and local government organizations use Claude, weekly active users of Claude for Government are up about eightfold since February, and usage across federal civilian agencies has grown about 20-fold in a year. Claude for Government, authorized at FedRAMP High, became generally available on 30 September. Claude on Amazon Bedrock and Google Cloud's Vertex AI is authorized for FedRAMP High, and Claude Enterprise is in process for FedRAMP Moderate through the FedRAMP 20x program.
