What is a weekly limit? Claude and Codex weekly caps

Claude

• Pro, Max and Team have a weekly limit that applies across all models, per Anthropic's Pro and Max plan articles.
• It resets at a fixed day and time assigned to your account. That time doesn't depend on when you start using Claude or when your subscription began, and you get your full allowance each cycle.
• Max has a second weekly limit just for Fable.
• On Team plans, weekly limits are per member, not shared.
• Usage in claude.ai, Claude Desktop and Claude Code counts toward the same weekly limit.

If you hit a weekly limit, you can wait for the reset, upgrade, or turn on usage credits and keep working at standard API rates. A limit reset, if you have one, can also set your weekly limit back to full. Anthropic changes the limits from time to time. ClaudeDevs said standard weekly limits in Claude Code would rise permanently by 25% from 14 September 2026 for Pro, Max, Team and seat-based Enterprise.

Codex

OpenAI's Codex pricing page says weekly limits may also apply on top of the five-hour estimates, and OpenAI's Pro tiers article says model allowances vary by tier and a model may be unavailable until its allowance resets. OpenAI doesn't publish weekly numbers. It suggests checking the usage dashboard every week or two to understand your pace.

Weekly limit or weekly reset?
